Final Project Summary
This post marks the completion of my WPCredits journey and the end of a valuable learning experience. Throughout this project, I had the opportunity to explore the WordPress ecosystem, contribute to the WP Polyglots team, and gain firsthand experience working within a global open-source community.
What began as a university assignment became an opportunity to learn new technical skills, collaborate through WordPress tools, and understand the importance of community-driven software development.
During the WPCredits program, I completed all the major activities required for the project. I created my WordPress.org account, completed the onboarding process, explored the WordPress community, selected WP Polyglots as my contribution team, and actively participated in the WordPress 6.8.x – Spanish (Costa Rica) translation project.
As part of my contribution, I submitted 119 translation suggestions through GlotPress, translating interface messages, accessibility texts, editor components, media tools, and other WordPress strings. Every translation required careful attention to context, terminology, and formatting to ensure a natural experience for Spanish-speaking users in Costa Rica.
In addition to my translation work, I designed and developed this personal portfolio website using the Twenty Twenty-Five theme. Through this website, I documented every stage of my journey, shared what I learned, and reflected on the challenges and achievements I experienced throughout the project.
Beyond completing the required activities, this project gave me a much deeper understanding of how the WordPress community operates. I learned that open-source projects succeed because thousands of people contribute their knowledge, time, and experience in many different ways.
I also developed practical skills using WordPress, the Block Editor, the Site Editor, and GlotPress. More importantly, I strengthened my attention to detail, improved my problem-solving abilities, and learned how collaboration and consistency are essential when contributing to software used by millions of people around the world.
Completing the WPCredits program has been a rewarding and meaningful experience. I am proud of the work I accomplished, from submitting my translation suggestions to building this website and documenting my entire learning journey.
This project has increased my confidence in using WordPress and introduced me to the value of participating in open-source communities. I hope to continue expanding my knowledge, developing new technical skills, and contributing to future WordPress projects whenever I have the opportunity.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my portfolio and follow my WPCredits journey.
