Welcome to my WPCredits portfolio!

This page presents the work I completed during the WPCredits program, where I explored the WordPress open-source ecosystem and contributed to one of its community teams.

Throughout this project, I learned how WordPress is built and maintained by volunteers around the world, while gaining practical experience through WP Polyglots and documenting my progress on this website.

I hope this portfolio reflects both my learning process and my enthusiasm for contributing to open-source software.

What is WPCredits?

WPCredits is an educational initiative that introduces students to the WordPress open-source project. Instead of focusing only on website creation, the program encourages participants to collaborate with the global WordPress community.

Students learn about different contributor teams, explore how WordPress is developed, and make real contributions in areas such as translations, documentation, accessibility, support, testing, and community engagement.

The program provides hands-on experience while helping participants develop both technical and collaborative skills.

My Contribution to WP Polyglots

For my contribution area, I joined the WP Polyglots team, which is responsible for translating WordPress into many different languages.

During this project, I submitted more than 119 translation suggestions for the Spanish (Costa Rica) locale through translate.wordpress.org. My work included interface labels, editor messages, accessibility strings, media tools, and administrative notifications.

This experience taught me the importance of consistency, terminology, and collaboration when localizing software for a global audience. It also helped me understand how community review and feedback contribute to maintaining high translation quality.
